Under Fire

Included with Undercurrent is a new custom-designed tone-shaping effect called Under Fire. This sonically versatile distortion / compression / EQ device utilizes completely different DSP algorithms from the standard Omnisphere FX, giving Undercurrent a special “fire” all its own. Based on component-modeling of rare analog devices, a wide variety of colors are achievable – from warm saturation and contoured crunch, all the way to extremely vicious distortion.

PAGE ONE CONTROLS

• [DISTORTION] MIX
  Controls the mix of the dry signal and the signal processed by the distortion section.

• [DISTORTION] TYPE
  Drop-down menu with different saturation and distortion options.

• [DISTORTION] DRIVE
  Controls how much the amplifier is overloaded. The higher the setting, the more distorted the signal.

• [COMPRESSION] INPUT
  Sets how hard you are hitting the compression section.

• [COMPRESSION] TYPE
  Drop-down menu with different compression options. With emulations of tube and solid state compressors to tape compression/saturation and enhancers, there are plenty of options to change the sound’s character.

• [COMPRESSION] OUTPUT
  A gain stage that adjusts the compression output to compensate for compression level reduction.

PAGE TWO CONTROLS

• [EQ] INPUT
  Sets the amount of signal sent to to the EQ section. At higher settings, harmonics are introduced by the non-linear components of the model.

• [EQ] LOW
  Adjusts the gain of a low-frequency shelf set at 400 Hz.

• [EQ] MID
  Adjusts the gain of the mid-frequency band, set at 1.5 kHz.

• [EQ] HIGH
  Adjusts the gain of a high-frequency shelf set at 8 kHz.

• [EQ] OUTPUT
  Adjusts the output of the EQ section.

• [EQ] SIGNAL PATH
  This menu controls at which point in Under Fire’s signal path the EQ is inserted. The options are:

Pre-Dist: The EQ is inserted before the Distortion section. This setting helps control how the Distortion will react.
Post-Dist: The EQ is inserted after the Distortion, before the Compression section. This setting is useful to further shape the signal coming out of the Distortion before it hits the Compression section.
Post-Comp: The EQ is at the end of the signal path, after the Compression section. This setting is useful to apply final touches to the signal before the output of the effect.
