Add the warmth and punch of classic tube compression with this recreation of the unique Fairchild 670®. Featuring a distinct vintage color, pick from one of the three modeled units, each with its own sonic character. With built-in parallel compression, control over low frequencies, and a faithful recreation of the original’s musical envelope, this unit adds instant analog vibes to anything you run through it.
PAGE ONE CONTROLS
- INPUT
Controls the input gain.
Range: –6 dB to +14 dB
- US/UK/EU
Selects the model—each has a different character.
- THRESHOLD
Sets the audio level at which the unit starts to compress the signal.
Range: 0 ~ 10.0
- CONSTANT
Controls the Attack and Release times.
Range: 0 ~ 5.0
- MAKEUP
A gain stage that adjusts the overall output to compensate for compression level reduction.
Range: –15 dB ~ +15 dB
PAGE TWO CONTROLS
- DC THRESH
Using modeled DC Bias, this control adjusts the curve of the compression between soft-knee and hard-knee.
Range: 0 ~ 10.0
- HARMONICS
Adjusts the amount of harmonic distortion introduced by tube saturation. The midpoint (– 4.0) is the stock sound, but the distortion can be increased or decreased.
Range: –23 ~ +15
- BASS FILTER
At times, compressors can be overloaded by low frequencies. This control sets the frequency of a highpass filter which removes low frequencies from the signal the compressor is “hearing.” Useful to reduce pumping when the input signal is bass-heavy.
Range: 30 Hz ~ 480 Hz
- ULTRA / HQ
Engages internal oversampling for the effect when ULTRA is selected.
- OUTPUT
Adjusts the output level.
Range: –15 dB ~ +15 dB
