1970s Class-A Console

Looking for the presence and punch of API® gear? The 1970s Class-A Console is modeled after the API 550® EQ, including its unique Proportional-Q design, where increasing the gain of a band causes its Q to narrow. and decreasing it widens it. For extended control, this effect includes an additional MID band and continuous frequency control, perfect for dialing in the American API® sound!

PAGE ONE CONTROLS (GAINS)

• INPUT

  Controls the input gain. At higher settings, harmonics are introduced by non-linear components of the model.
  Range: –15 dB ~ +15 dB 


• LO

  Adjusts the gain for the LO FREQ on Page 2.
  Range: –12 dB ~ +12 dB

• MID [1]
  Adjusts the gain for the first MID FREQ on Page 2.
  Range: –12 dB ~ +12 dB

• MID [2]
  Adjusts the gain for the second MID FREQ on Page 2.
  Range: –12 dB ~ +12 dB

• HI

  Adjusts the gain for the HI FREQ on Page 2.
  Range: –12 dB ~ +12 dB 


• HARMONICS
  
Indicates the amount of added harmonics that result from input saturation.

PAGE TWO CONTROLS (FREQS)

• CURVE

  The Lo Freq Curve button switches between Peak and Shelving.

• LO FREQ

  Sets the frequency that is reduced or increased by the corresponding control on Page 1.
  Range: 50 Hz ~ 400 Hz

• MID FREQ 1
  Sets the frequency that is reduced or increased by the corresponding control on Page 1.
  
Range: 400 Hz ~ 5 kHz

• MID FREQ
 2
  Sets the frequency that is reduced or increased by the corresponding control on Page 1.
  
Range: 400 Hz ~ 5 kHz

• HI FREQ
  Sets the shelved frequency that is reduced or increased by the corresponding control on Page 1.
  Range: 5 kHz ~ 15 kHz

• CURVE

  Engages a Bandpass filter that rolls off frequencies below 50 Hz and above 15 kHz.


NOTE: The API 550 had fixed frequency choices, but here they are sweepable, with the original detents marked.

• ULTRA / HQ
  Engages internal oversampling for the effect when ULTRA is selected.
