AMBIENCE is an important part of Omnisphere Patches. You can quickly modify the Ambience (reverbs and delays) on any Patch using the Ambience AMOUNT and LENGTH sliders directly from the Global Controls page, regardless of how the Patch is programmed. When you load a Patch that already has effects units providing the Ambience, the Global Controls will be automatically assigned to those units. If the Patch is not using Ambience effects units, the Global Controls will insert a reverb as soon as the controls are touched. This means you will always have a simple way to adjust reverbs and delays for ANY Patch in Omnisphere.
Adding AMBIENCE or modifying the FX settings of a Patch is a great way to add the finishing touches to your sound. Using the AMBIENCE Global Controls, you can do that from a single page—always obtaining musical results.
These controls are assigned to the corresponding parameters using the following rules:
- The Layers must be audible: If a Layer is disabled, or enabled but with the Layer level all the way down, that Layer’s effects will not be controlled by the AMBIENCE Global Controls.
- If a Patch has an Ambience effect unit (such as a reverb) inserted in any of the Part’s FX racks, AMOUNT controls the unit’s Mix slider or rack’s Aux Send (whichever is applicable). LENGTH controls time/decay for reverbs and feedback for delays.
- If a Patch loads with Ambience effects units that are disabled or have their Mix set to 0% by default, they will not be controlled by the AMBIENCE Global Controls.
- In Patches where the Soundsources have Room Mics Sublayers, the AMOUNT slider will be assigned to that Sublayer’s level.
- If the AMBIENCE Global Controls are assigned to a single destination (or multiple destinations with identical settings), the sliders will be unipolar. If they are assigned to more than one destination and their parameters are set to different values, the controls will be bipolar offsets.

Examples
- A Patch can have a delay unit inserted in the Layer A FX rack with a Mix value of 90%, and another delay inserted in the Layer B FX Rack with a Mix value of 50%. In this scenario, the AMOUNT slider controls the Mix of both units, and since they are set at different values, it becomes a bipolar offset with their default values (90% and 50%) recalled when the AMOUNT slider is at 50%. Both units will be at their highest values when the slider is fully right and at their lowest when it is fully left.
- The same applies to LENGTH: If the delay in the Layer A FX rack has a Feedback setting of 40% and the one in the Layer B FX Rack has a Feedback setting of 75%, LENGTH will control both Feedback parameters and be a bipolar offset, with the detent position recalling the original settings for that Patch.
