Perfect for trippy textures, Backward Echo combines a reverse effect with an echo. Select whether the signal is reversed before or after the echo, and dial in unique iterations by using the echo time in combination with the reverse Capture time. Use Bounce for ping-pong repetitions and Damping to shape the tone for the ultimate in psychedelic vibes.

NOTE: To hear the reversed audio, the effect must first record it into its buffer, so the reversed signal will only be heard after the CAPTURE time has passed, or half that time if the OVERLAP parameter is set to 50.

  • MINI-SLIDER
Controls the mix of the dry signal and the reversed signal. The number indicated is the percentage of the reversed audio mixed with the source audio.
    Range: 0.00% ~ 100.00%

PAGE ONE CONTROLS

  • TIME
Controls the delay time of the echo section. If SYNC is OFF, the TIME is measured in seconds and if SYNC is ON, the TIME is measured in note values, up to 2 bars.
    Range:
    SYNC OFF: 15 ms ~ 5 Seconds
    SYNC ON: 16th, 8th, 1/4, 1/2, 1 Bar, 2 Bars
  • SYNC
Synchronizes the delays to your host’s tempo. When SYNC is ON, the TIME control is measured in note values.
  • FEEDBACK
Controls the number of repetitions fed back into the unit for echo repeats.
    Range: 0.00% ~ 100.00%
  • BOUNCE
When enabled, the delayed audio bounces between the left and right channels.
  • DAMPING
Use this control to filter out highs or lows in the delays. This can have a dramatic effect on the amount of apparent repeats set by the FEEDBACK control.
DAMPING controls LP/HP filters in the feedback path of the delay. The filters are placed in the feedback loop, so the amount of filtering/damping increases with each feedback repeat.
    Range:
    20 to 20k Hz Lowpass –100.00 ~ 0.00%
    20 to 2k Hz Highpass 0.00 ~ +100.00%

PAGE TWO CONTROLS

  • PRE / POST
This control affects where the buffer section is placed:
Before the echo (PRE) or after (POST).
-When in PRE, the incoming audio is first recorded, played back in reverse, and lastly run through the echo section.
-When in POST, the incoming audio is run through the echo first, with its output being recorded in the buffer. The resulting recording is then played back in reverse.
Experiment going back and forth between PRE/POST using high FEEDBACK settings.
  • CAPTURE
This control sets the duration of the captured audio, measured in note values, up to 2 bars.
    Range: 16th, 8th, 1/4, 1/2, 1 Bar, 2 Bars
  • OVERLAP
OVERLAP gives you more activity in the playback of the reversed audio by controlling how much of the previously recorded audio is blended with the currently reversed audio. At 50%, the overlapping audio will start playing half-way through the CAPTURE time.
    Range: 0.00% ~ 100.00%
  • SONG POSITION
Controls whether the buffer section is synced to the bars and beats of the host. When SONG POS is switched ON, the recording syncs to the Song Position of the host and does not reset based on note input. When SONG POS is switched OFF, the buffer section functions in Legato Mode—the recording begins on the first note of a legato passage, and it resets when the CAPTURE time is completed or when you play a note that is not connected to the previous one.
  • OUTPUT
    Adjusts the output level.
Range: – inf dB to +9.54 dB
