MIDI Learn
In Bitwig, you can set the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in to receive MIDI from your MIDI controller. The procedure is the same whether you are loading Omnisphere FX Rack as an insert on an audio or instrument track. For our example, we will use an audio track.
If you don’t already have an audio track you’d like to effect, select Add > Add Audio Track from the menu bar to create an audio track, as shown below:
Click the magnifying glass button in the bottom-right corner of Bitwig to open the Browser Panel.
Search for “MIDI CC” in the Browser Panel and double-click the “MIDI CC” device to add an instance as an insert on the audio track.
Search for “FX-Omnisphere” in the Browser Panel and double-click the “FX-Omnisphere” device to add an instance as an insert on the audio track.
Make sure the MIDI CC device comes before (to the left of) the “FX-Omnisphere” instance in the chain.
In the MIDI CC device, right-click the CC you want to control, select “Map to Controller or Key…” and then move the knob/slider on your MIDI controller to map it to the CC.
Open the “FX-Omnisphere” interface and either add an individual FX unit or load a Rack preset.
Right-click the parameter you want to control and select “MIDI CC Learn.”
You should then see a flashing blue indicator around the parameter, which means it’s waiting for the CC to be sent and learned.
Move the knob/slider on your MIDI controller that you previously mapped to the MIDI CC device, which will map it to the flashing parameter in the “FX-Omnisphere” instance.
You should now be set up to control that parameter with MIDI CCs and repeat the process with other parameters/controls, as desired.
