Browser Filters

Browser Filters allow you to narrow down the list of results by using tags that have been added to the sounds. In the Full browser, the Attributes are displayed when the BROWSE button is highlighted (default).

The Browser Filters use two types of tags:

• Attribute Types: A specific aspect used to describe a sound (“Keyword,” “Mood,” “Timbre”).
• Attribute Assignments: A descriptor of a type (“Harp,” “Joyful,” “Plucked”).

Attribute Types (except Author) are selectable by clicking on the Attribute name to reveal the menu of available options. The available types will be displayed in bold type.

In the Mini Browser, you must click the “Search and Filters” button to display them.

Select from the available attributes displayed in bold type.

Context Sensitivity

Attribute Types and Assignments are context-sensitive, meaning they will dynamically adapt to the selections you make.

For example, if you are in the Soundsource Browser and select the “Organic Sustain” Category, the following Attribute Types are shown:

• Type
• Source
• Technique
  

When choosing the “Textures Soundscape” Category, the Attribute Types automatically change to:

• Type
• Mood
• Tonality.
  

*These are recommended Attributes, but you can still manually select different ones from the column drop-down menus.

NOTE: Automatic Attribute Type changes will only occur if “Category Sensitive Attributes” in the Browser Settings is enabled (the default state). If the setting is disabled, the labels will remain static when changing Categories.

As you make selections in one Browser Filter and move to the next, the list of Assignments may dynamically change as well.
For example, going back to the “Organic Sustain” Category in the Soundsource Browser, try the following:

• Under “Type” select the Assignment “Bizarre Pianos.”
• Observe how the list of Assignments in the following filters narrows, showing you options that only apply to “Bizarre Pianos.”

• Go back to “Type” and select the Assignment “Glass Resonators.”
• Observe how the list of Assignments in the following filters changes, showing you options that only apply to “Glass Resonators.”
