Host Automation

In Cubase, you can set up the Omnisphere FX Rack Plug-in to receive automation your host. The procedure is the same whether you are loading the Omnisphere FX Rack Plug-in as an insert on an audio or instrument track. For this example, we will use an audio track.

To enable host automation for the Omnisphere FX Rack Plug-in, create an audio track.

Next, we’ll add “FX-Omnisphere” as an insert on the audio track. To start, select “Studio” from the menu bar and then click on “MixConsole in Project Window.”

In the MixConsole, click on an empty Insert slot that’s located on your Audio Track.

Type “FX-Omnisphere” in the search field, and then select the “FX-Omnisphere” plug-in.

Open the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in, right click on the parameter you want to automate and select “Enable Host Automation.”

Next, in the Project Window, click the small “Show/Hide Automation” drop-down arrow, located in the lower left corner of the audio track.

Then Select the Parameter (shown here as “Volume”), and choose “more” from the drop-down menu.

In the “Add Parameter” window, select Inserts > FX- Omnisphere > Name of the Parameter (“Drive” in this example). Then select OK.

NOTE: The only parameter names that will be visible are the parameters for which you have selected “enable host automation.” If you do not see your parameter as an option, please open the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in and ensure you have selected “Enable Host Automation” on the parameter.

The automation lane will show the name of the parameter that can be automated within the lane.
