Host Automation

In Digital Performer, you can use host automation with the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in. The procedure is the same whether you are loading the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in as an insert on an audio or instrument track. For our example, we will use an audio track.

First, select Project > Add Track > Stereo Audio Track from the menu bar to create an audio track, as shown below:

Navigate to the Mixing Board and click on the insert tab.

Next a pop-up window will appear. Select “Spectrasonics” under the Manufacturer drop-down, and select FX-Omnisphere. Click “Select” to add the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in as an insert onto the audio track.

Open the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in, add an effect.

Right click on the parameter you would like to automate and select “Enable Host Automation.” In the example below, we’ve Enabled Host Automation on the Super Verb “Mix” fader.

Next, navigate to the “Sequence” window in Digital Performer, and select “Insert” on the Audio track that has the Omnisphere FX rack plug-in.

Select “Insert: FX-Omnisphere” from the drop-down menu.

In the popup-menu, the parameter on which you enabled host automation will be displayed. In this case, the parameter chosen is “Mix.” Select the parameter and click “OK.”

You can now automate the parameter in the automation lane:
