Flip Backward

Reverse anything you run through it! Always recording and synced to the host, it reverses your audio in fragments based on musical values. Great for trippy effects (especially when used in combination with delays or reverbs) or glitchy artifacts. Shape the tone with saturation and filtering for additional control.

NOTE: To hear the reversed audio, the effect must first record it into its buffer, so the reversed signal will only be heard after the CAPTURE time has passed, or half that time if the OVERLAP parameter is set to 50 percent.

• MINI-SLIDER
  Controls the mix of the dry signal and the reversed signal. The number indicated is the percentage of the reversed audio mixed with the source audio.
  Range: 0 ~ 100%

• SATURATE

  Adjusts the gain added to the input signal.
  Range: –12 dB to +18 dB

• LO CUT

  Controls the highpass filter cutoff frequency.
  Range: 30 Hz ~ 4 kHz

• HI CUT

  Controls the lowpass filter cutoff frequency.
  Range: 6.5 kHz ~ 20 kHz

• CAPTURE
  Selects the duration of the audio which is recorded and reversed—measured in note values, up to 2 bars.
  Range: 16th, 8th, 1/4, 1/2, 1 Bar, 2 Bars

• OVERLAP
  OVERLAP gives you more activity in the playback of the reversed audio by controlling how much of the previously recorded audio is blended with the currently reversed audio. The overlapping audio will start playing half-way through the CAPTURE time.
  Range: 0% ~ 100%

• SONG POSITION
  Controls whether the recording is synced to the bars and beats of the host. When SONG POS is switched ON, the recording syncs to the Song Position of the host and does not reset based on note input. When SONG POS is switched OFF, FLIP BACKWARD functions in Legato Mode—the recording begins on the first note of a legato passage, and it resets when the CAPTURE time is completed or when you play a note that is not connected to the previous one.

Example 1:
With Song Position ON and CAPTURE set to 1 bar, if you play 4 quarter notes in a bar (either legato or not), your audio is recorded for one bar and begins playing back in reverse immediately in the next bar. Keep in mind the audio is reversed, so the placement of the audio in the bar is also reversed and each note begins from the tail.

Example 2:
With Song Position OFF and CAPTURE set to 1 bar, if you play 4 quarter notes in a bar, but only the last 2 are played legato, the recording resets after each disconnected note and will record only the last 2 notes. Those 2 notes will be the only ones you hear played back in reverse.
