Level, Amp/Gain, and Pan

Layers have several parameters to control their level, and each serves a different purpose.

LAYER LEVEL

The Layer Level is used to control the overall output of a Layer, and is best used as a mix control between Layers.

AMP/GAIN

On the right side of each Layer Page, there is a button that toggles between the AMP and GAIN sliders.

!The AMP/GAIN sliders are two independent parameters and work simultaneously.

• AMP is a Pre-Layer Level Amplitude control, and it is modulatable and polyphonic. It uses a linear curve to control level, and works well with LFO or complex envelopes. For example, if you bring AMP all the way down then right-click on the fader and navigate to Modulate with LFO, you will hear the Amplitude of that Layer being modulated. Amplitude is polyphonic.
  Range 0 (silence) ~ 1

Click on the AMP button to display the GAIN slider.

• GAIN is similar to AMP, but it uses a Logarithmic (dB) curve to control level. This works better when using Aftertouch or MPE modulation sources since it allows you perform smooth, logarithmic volume swells and gain boosts.

PAN

The Layer PAN knob provides independent PAN control for each Layer. PAN is a polyphonic modulation target.

Range 0.000 ~ 1.000
