Host Automation

Here are some general instructions on how to use host automation in Logic to control a given parameter in the Omnisphere FX plug-in:

To start, create an audio track in Logic:

Next, click the “Audio FX” button on the channel strip of the new audio track:

Then, select Audio Units > Spectrasonics > FX-Omnisphere >

From there, open the Omnisphere FX plug-in, right-click on the parameter you want to automate (e.g., the Warp Depth knob in the Warp Shifter FX unit), and select “Enable Host Automation:”

Back in the main Logic Pro window, press the “A” button on your computer keyboard to show automation lanes for your tracks (if they aren’t visible already):

Next, click the word “Volume” that now appears on the Audio track, select “FX-Omnisphere,” then scroll down the list until you reach the parameter for which you enabled host automation (in this case, “Warp Depth”):

NOTE: The only parameter names that will be visible are the parameters for which you have selected “Enable Host Automation.” If you do not see your parameter as an option, please open the Omnisphere FX plug-in and ensure you have selected “Enable Host Automation” for that parameter.

The track’s automation lane in Logic should now show the name of the parameter (e.g., “Warp Depth”), which you can automate from within the lane:
