Optical Leveling Amp

Carefully modeled after the iconic Teletronix® compressors. Choose between two flavors—the warm, harmonically rich tone of the tube-based LA-2A, and the faster, cleaner, transistor-based LA-3A. Extended features include the Mix slider for parallel compression and the ability to color the sound with the Harmonics control. You can even filter the bass to avoid over-compression of low frequencies. Two classic units taken to the next level!

• MINI-SLIDER
  Controls the mix of the dry signal and the processed (compressed) signal. The percentage indicated is the amount of the signal that is compressed.
  Range: 0 ~ 100%

*The MINI-SLIDER can be used for parallel compression—the technique of mixing the unprocessed “dry” signal with a more compressed version of itself. This allows you to mix in the energy and sustain of the compressed signal while preserving the natural transients.

• LIMIT / COMP
  Switches between hard limiting of transients and soft knee, gradual onset compression.

• GAIN
  Controls the output gain, after compression.
  Range: –inf ~ +22 dB

• PEAK
  Controls the amount of peak reduction.
  Range: 0 dB ~ –34 dB

• TUBE / TRANSISTOR SWITCH
  Select “Tube” (LA-2A) for softer transients and more harmonics.
  Select “Transistor” (LA-3A) for faster transients and fewer harmonics.

• INPUT
  Controls the input gain. At higher settings, harmonics are introduced by non-linear components of the model.
  Range: –15 dB ~ +15 dB

• HARMONICS
  Adjusts the amount of added harmonics that result from input saturation.
  Range: -15 ~ +15

• BASS FILTER
  At times, compressors can be overloaded by low frequencies. This control sets the frequency of a high pass filter which removes low frequencies from the signal the compressor is “hearing.” Useful to reduce pumping when the input signal is bass-heavy.
  Range: 30 Hz ~ 480 Hz

• ULTRA / HQ
  Engages internal oversampling for the effect when ULTRA is selected.

• OUTPUT
  
Adjusts the output level and can be used for makeup gain.
  Range: –15 dB ~ +15 dB
