MIDI Learn

In Pro Tools, you can set the Omnisphere FX Rack plug-in to receive MIDI from your MIDI controller. The procedure is the same whether you are loading the Omnisphere FX Rack as an insert on an audio or instrument track. For our example, we will use an audio track.

First, select Add New Track > Stereo Audio Track from the menu bar to create a stereo audio track as shown below:

Add FX-Omnisphere as an insert on the audio track.

Next, select Add New Track > MIDI Track to create a MIDI track. Then, select “Create,” as shown below:

In the setup window for the MIDI track, in the MIDI output drop-down, choose the input as “All” or use a specific MIDI device from the predefined list:

Next, choose the audio channel on which FX-Omnisphere is shown as the MIDI output, choosing Channel 1 for FX-Omnisphere:

Next, enable record enable (red record button for the MIDI channel), as shown below:

Then open FX-Omnisphere on your Audio Track. Right-Click on the parameter that you would like to receive MIDI and select “MIDI CC Learn” (or MIDI Note Learn). Then move the knob, fader, or press the button on your MIDI controller that you would like to control that parameter.
