Host Automation
In Sonar, you can set up the FX-Omnisphere plug-in to allow for your host to automate its parameters. The procedure is the same whether you are loading FX-Omnisphere as an insert on an audio or instrument track. For our example, we will use an audio track.
If you don’t already have an audio track you’d like to effect, select Insert > Audio Track from the menu bar to create an audio track, as shown below:
Click the drop-down arrow to reveal the full track header, including the insert slots.
In the inserts box, click the plus sign to add a new insert, open the “Insert Audio FX” menu and select “FX-Omnisphere.”
Open the “FX-Omnisphere” interface and either add an individual FX unit or load a Rack preset.
Right-click the parameter you want to automate and select “Enable Host Automation.”
Click the small “Show Automation Lanes” button, located in the lower left corner of the audio track.
Navigate the menu to “FX-Omnisphere” and locate the parameter for which automation was enabled.
NOTE: The only parameter names that will be visible are the parameters on which you have selected “Enable Host Automation.” If you do not see your parameter as an option, please open FX-Omnisphere and ensure you have selected “Enable Host Automation” on that parameter.
The automation lane will show the name of the parameter that can be automated within the lane.
