Using a Live Host vs. the Omnisphere Standalone

If you’re using Omnisphere as the only virtual instrument in your live rig, the Omnisphere standalone app is perfect. This uses less CPU than a live host and is extremely stable. You can also magnify the GUI and open it in Fullscreen mode for easy viewing.

However, if your set requires pre-recorded tracks or you are using other virtual instruments in conjunction with Omnisphere, you’ll need to use a live host application / DAW, such as Live, Pro Tools, or Logic in order to create more a sophisticated performance environment on your computer.
