The Modal Cobalt5S is a streamlined version of their Cobalt8, with an almost identical engine, at an affordable price. It is compact and USB-powered, which are important factors if portability is what you are looking for. The trade-off is that it is not as fun to use due to its reduced form factor, but for the price, you get a unique virtual analog synth and a deep Omnisphere controller if you are willing to do some menu diving.
