Setup
To control Omnisphere using the 61SL mk3, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the 61SL mk3 to your computer via USB.
- Set up the 61SL mk3 to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the 61SL mk3 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the 61SL mk3 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
61SL mk3 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of template “1 MIDI” on the 61SL mk3 while in Sequencer mode.
Here’s how to set this up:
- On the 61SL, press the [SEQENCER] button on the SL49. When the [SEQUENCER] button is lit, this means the SL49 is ready to control external devices or software plug-ins.
- Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [SESSIONS] button.
- Select the Part you want to use to control Omnisphere using the soft buttons below the screen.
- Use the first knob from the left and scroll up through the templates until the first template, named “MIDI 1” is highlighted.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the 61SL mk3 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Novation > Novation 61SL mk3” to activate the 61SL mk3 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the 61SL mk3?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the 61SL mk3 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the 61SL mk3 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs, faders, and buttons on the 61SL mk3 sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC numbers.
NOTE: If you need to reassign any MIDI CC#s to the knobs, faders, or buttons, you can do so by aCC#essing Templates view on the 61SL mk3 or using Novation’s Components editor application. To access Templates view on the 61SL mk3, press the Shift + Sessions buttons (Templates appears above the Sessions button).
