Setup

To control Omnisphere using the A-300PRO, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the A-300PRO to your computer via USB.
  2. Download and install the Roland USB-MIDI Driver.
  3. Set up the A-300PRO to control Omnisphere.
  4. Enable the A-300PRO as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  5. Activate the A-300PRO Hardware PROfile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

USB DRIVER

  • Check to see if the necessary Roland A-PRO Driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify that the Roland A-300PRO is on your list of MIDI inputs.
  • If the A-300PRO is not listed as a MIDI input, download and install the driver that is compatible with your computer’s operating system from the Roland Support page.
  • Restart the host and you should see it listed.

A-300PRO SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default settings of the A-300PRO Control Map/ template #18 named “CC Control Temp” for external control.

  • To load Control Map 18, turn the VALUE knob until the curser is over “CTRL MAP” then press down on the VALUE knob.
  • Next, turn the VALUE Knob until Control Map 18 is displayed, then press down on the VALUE Knob once more to activate the control map.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the A-300PRO is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Roland > Roland A-300PRO” to activate the A-300PRO hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the A-300PRO?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the A-300PRO to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel on the A-300PRO matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the A-300PRO knobs sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? You can check this by connecting your A-300PRO controller to the Roland A-PRO Editor application. See the list at the top of the page for the MIDI CC#s that should be assigned to each knob.
