Setup
To control Omnisphere using the A-800PRO, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the A-800PRO to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the Roland USB-MIDI Driver.
- Set up the A-800PRO to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the A-800PRO as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the A-800PRO Hardware PROfile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
- Check to see if the necessary Roland A-PRO Driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the Roland A-800PRO is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If the A-800PRO is not listed as a MIDI input, download and install the driver that is compatible with your computer’s operating system from the Roland Support page.
- Restart the host and you should see it listed.
A-800PRO SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of the A-800PRO Control Map/ template #18 named “CC Control Temp” for external control.
- To load Control Map 18, turn the VALUE knob until the curser is over “CTRL MAP” then press down on the VALUE knob.
- Next, turn the VALUE Knob until Control Map 18 is displayed, then press down on the VALUE Knob once more.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the A-800PRO is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Roland > Roland A-800PRO” to activate the A-800PRO hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the A-800PRO?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the A-800PRO to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel on the A-800PRO matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the A-800PRO knobs sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? You can check this by connecting your A-800PRO controller to the Roland A-PRO Editor application. See the list at the top of the page for the MIDI CC#s that should be assigned to each knob.
