Setup

To control Omnisphere using the Axiom Pro 61, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the Axiom Pro 61 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the Axiom Pro 61 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the Axiom Pro 61 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the Axiom Pro 61 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

AXIOM PRO 61 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default Patch named “01 GM Patch” on the Axiom Pro 61 for external control. This Patch is typically already loaded when the unit is turned on, you can confirm that the “GM Patch” is loaded if “GM Patch” is displayed in the top left corner of the LCD screen.

  • If another patch is loaded, press the [Load] button then Encoder/ Knob E5 to select Patch 01 “GM Patch.”

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Axiom Pro 61 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button
  • From the drop-down menu, select “M-Audio > M-Audio Axiom Pro 61” to activate the Axiom Pro 61 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Axiom Pro 61?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Axiom Pro 61 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Axiom Pro 61 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to use the standard Axiom Pro’s MIDI Out port instead of the Axiom Pro’s “HyperControl Out”. The HyperControl Out” port is for integrated control with your host/ DAW which will block the ability to use the Axiom Pro as a hardware controller for Omnisphere.
  • Are the knobs and sliders on the Axiom Pro 61 sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW.

NOTE: The Enigma editor is no longer supported or provided by M-Audio. If you don’t have access to the Enigma editor, an alternative is to factory reset the Axiom Pro 61. However, doing so will erase all user saved Patchs on the Axiom. If you’d like to continue with a factory reset, please turn OFF the Axiom Pro, then press the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time while turning the Axiom Pro back ON.
