Setup

To control Omnisphere using the Cobalt8, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Using a USB cable, connect the Cobalt8 h to your computer.
  • Enable “Cobalt8” as a MIDI input device to Omnisphere in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  • Activate the Cobalt8 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

HOST CONNECTION

Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Cobalt8 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button:

From the drop-down menu, select “Modal>Modal Cobalt8” to activate that Hardware Profile.

If you want the load Omnisphere Patches from the Cobalt8, follow these steps:

EFFECTS

  • FX1 is assigned to Global Ambience and Global Tone, and does not support custom selection of FX types. Use FX2 and FX3 to select any of the available effect types.
  • Shift FX parameters are not supported.

Unassigned Controls

The following Cobalt8 controls have no effect on Omnisphere:

  • Shift FX parameters
  • Play
  • Record
  • Mute
  • Init
  • Patch
  • Save
  • Shift + Audio In
  • Shift + Mode
  • Shift + Seq
  • Shift + Random
  • Shift + Anim1
  • Shift + Anim2
  • Shift + Anim3
  • Shift + Bank

Troubleshooting

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Make sure the MIDI Channel is set to Ch.1.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Cobalt8 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere part you want to control.
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Cobalt8 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired Part in Omnisphere.
