Setup
To control Omnisphere using the Drop, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the Drop to your computer via USB.
- Set up the Drop to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the Drop as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the Drop Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
DROP SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the first bank and default settings of the “DAW Init” Project on the Drop for external control.
- You can activate “DAW Init” by pressing the [MENU] button, then scroll down the list and select “DAW Init.” This will clear all custom settings on the Drop and reset the knobs and faders back to their default settings. Once you’ve activated the “DAW Init” Project, feel free to save this Project with a custom name and load it for later use.
NOTE: The Mute buttons are Toggles and only send MIDI Note Messages through Ch.2. The Number Pad buttons only send MIDI Note messages.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Drop is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Neuzeit Instruments > Neuzeit Instruments Drop” to activate the Drop hardware profile.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Drop?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Drop to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Drop matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs and sliders on the Drop sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by recording knob movement in your DAW.
NOTE: If you need to change the MIDI CC#s on the Drop, you can simply reload the “DAW Init” Project via the steps in the “DROP SETUP” section in this guide.
