Setup
To control Omnisphere using the EC4, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the EC4 to your computer via USB.
- Setup the EC4 to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the EC4 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the EC4 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
EC4 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the factory default settings of Group #1 in Setup #1 on the EC4. Please go through the following steps to make sure your FaderFox EC4 has Group #1 in Setup #1 engaged:
- Activate Setup #1 by pressing the [Setup] Button and then press down on Knob #1.
- Activate Group #1 by pressing the [Group] button and then press down on Knob #1.
- Lastly, once Group #1 of Setup #1 is loaded, press any of the three green buttons located at the top of the controller.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the EC4 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “FaderFox > FaderFox EC4” to activate the EC4 Hardware Profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the EC4?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the EC4 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the EC4 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs on the EC4 sending the correct MIDI CC#s used to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
If you need to change the MIDI CC assignments for the knobs, you can reset Setup#1 on the EC4 back to factory settings by following these steps:
- Enter Setup Mode by holding the blue [FUNC] key and then pressing encoder 4 quickly.
- Enter Reset Setup menu by pressing encoder 4 quickly.
- Reset the current setup by holding encoder 4.
- Once the Setup has been reset, you can exit Setup Mode by holding the blue [FUNC] key and then pressing encoder 4 quickly.
