When using the Icon iControls to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the iControls are assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:
- Knob 1 (CC#16) – Global Controls Cutoff
- Knob 2 (CC#17) – Global Controls Resonance
- Knob 3 (CC#18) – Global Controls Filter Envelope Amount
- Knob 4 (CC#19) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
- Knob 5 (CC#20) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
- Knob 6 (CC#21) – Global Controls Ambience Length
- Knob 7 (CC#22) – Global Controls Unison
- Knob 8 (CC#23) – Global Controls Glide
- Knob 9 (CC#12) – Part Level
Setup
To control Omnisphere using the iControls, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the iControls to your computer via USB.
- Set up the iControls to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the iControls as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the iControls Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
ICONTROLS SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the factory default settings of the knobs on the iControls controller.
- If you have not customized the knobs on your iControls controller than you can move on to the steps in the next section, “HOST CONNECTION.”
- If you have customized the knobs on the iControls controller, you’ll need to use the iControls iMap editor application to return the knobs back to their factory settings by matching each knob to the MIDI CC assignments listed at the top of the page.
NOTE: This is a discontinued controller and the “iControls iMap” editor application normally used to customize and modify the MIDI commands sent from the Icon iControls is no longer compatible with current operating systems. If you don’t have access to the iControls iMap software on an older operating system, then you can reset the iControls to factory settings by holding down the [Rewind] + [Play] + [Fast Forward] buttons simultaniously. However, doing so will erase all user settings that were stored on the iControls controller.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the iControls is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Icon > Icon iControls” to activate the iControls hardware profile.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the iControls?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the iControls to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the iControls matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
