Setup

To control Omnisphere using the Impact LX88+, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the Impact LX88+ to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the Impact LX88+ to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the Impact LX88+ as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the Impact LX88+ Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

IMPACT LX88+ SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default preset named 5 “Learn Friendly 2” on the Impact LX88+ for external control.

  • You can activate preset 5 by pressing and holding the [Preset] button while using the -/+ keys (C3/C#3) to change the preset selection until preset 5 is displayed.
  • Next, make sure the knobs are set to User mode by pressing the [Page] button located to the left of the knobs until the LED indicator next to “User” is lit.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Impact LX88+ is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Nektar > Nektar Impact LX88+” to activate the Impact LX88+ hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Impact LX88+?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Impact LX88+ to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Impact LX88+ matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs on the Impact LX88+ sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.

NOTE: If you need to change the MIDI CC#s of the knobs on the Impact LX88+, you can do so from the Impact LX88+ (for steps, please review the Impact LX88+ user manual). An alternative is to factory reset the Impact LX88+. However, doing so will erase all user-saved presets. If you’d like to continue with the reset, please turn OFF the Impact LX88+, then hold down on the [OCTAVE UP] and [OCTAVE DOWN] buttons while turning ON the Impact LX88+ and release the Octave buttons after 2 seconds. This will clear any user saved settings and return the knobs to their factory settings.
