Setup

To control Omnisphere using the JU-06A, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Using a USB cable, connect the JU-06A to your computer.
  • Verify that your JU-06A system firmware is up to date with v1.02 or higher.
  • Verify that your JU-06A is transmitting MIDI control through USB.
  • Download and install the appropriate JU-06A USB driver on your computer.
  • Enable “Boutique” as a MIDI input device to Omnisphere in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  • Activate the JU-06A Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

FIRMWARE

  • Check the firmware (system program version) of your JU-06A by holding down [ BANK 4(8) ] button switch on the power to the unit.
  • Wait several seconds and the system program version will shown in the display.
  • Restart the JU-06A.
  • If those indicators are not lit as shown above, access the Roland website, download and install the latest JU-06A System Program version.

MIDI SETUP

  • To make sure the controls in your JU-06A transmit MIDI through USB, hold down the ARPEGGIO [ON/OFF] button, then press the [ BANK 11 ] button for CONTROL CHANGE OUTPUT MODE. Turn the VALUE knob to ALL.

USB DRIVER

  • Check to see if the necessary Boutique USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the Roland JU-06A is on your list of MIDI inputs.
  • If the JU-06A is not listed as a MIDI input, download and install the driver that is compatible with your computer’s operating system from the Roland Support page. Restart the host and you should see it listed.

HOST CONNECTION

Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the JU-06A is enabled as a MIDI input device.

  • Keyboard section
  • Sequencer section

Troubleshooting

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Make sure the MIDI Channel is set to Ch.1.
  • Is the Control Change Output Mode set up correctly?
  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the JU-06A?

As a last resort, you can reset all Global parameters to the factory defaults by the following steps:

  • While holding down the [BANK 2] button, turn on the power. The [PAGE/TIE] button blinks. To cancel the factory reset, turn off the power.
  • Press the [PAGE/TIE] button.
  • Turn the power of the JU-06A off and then on again.
