Setup

To control Omnisphere using the KeyLab 88, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the KeyLab 88 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the KeyLab 88 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the KeyLab 88 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the KeyLab 88 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

KEYLAB 88 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the factory default settings of a User Preset in the KeyLab 88.

  • If you haven’t customized any User Presets on the KeyLab 88, then you can simply load the first User Preset by pressing the [EDIT] button and then use the Value encoder to select the first available User Preset, then press down on the Value encoder to load the User Preset.
  • If you have customized one of the ten User Presets on the KeyLab 88, you can simply load any other User Preset that has not been customized.
  • If you have customized all ten User Presets then you’ll need to use Arturia’s MIDI Control Center to create a new User Preset that is using the factory default settings for all the knobs and sliders, and then send that User Preset to the KeyLab 88. See the list above for the MIDI CC numbers to which each knob/encoder, slider, and button should be set to in order to control Omnisphere’s parameters.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the KeyLab 88 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Arturia > Arturia KeyLab 88” to activate the KeyLab 88 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Are the User Presets available on the KeyLab 88? If not, you may need to connect your KeyLab 88 to Arturia’s “MIDI Control Center” application and enable the User Presets in the “Device Settings” of the KeyLab 88.
  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the KeyLab 88?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the KeyLab 88 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the KeyLab 88 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Is your User Preset setup so that the knobs and faders send the correct MIDI CC#s used to control Omnisphere? You can check this by reviewing the Settings on your KeyLab 88 or connecting your KeyLab 88 to Arturia’s MIDI Control Center application and review your User Preset there.
