Setting Up the Keystep 37

When using the Arturia KeyStep 37 to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the KeyStep 37 are assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:

White Bank (aka Bank 1):

  • Knob 1 (CC#74) – Global Controls Cutoff
  • Knob 2 (CC#71) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
  • Knob 3 (CC#76) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
  • Knob 4 (CC#77) – Global Controls Glide

Setup

To control Omnisphere using the KeyStep 37, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the KeyStep 37 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the KeyStep 37 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the KeyStep 37 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the KeyStep 37 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

KEYSTEP 37 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the factory default settings of the KeyStep 37 while in Control Mode.

  • You can activate Control Mode by pressing the [CHORD] button.
  • Next, make sure the knobs on the KeyStep 37 are set to the first bank (which are used to control Omnisphere) by holding [SHIFT] and press the [CHORD] button until the Chord button lights up in white.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the KeyStep 37 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Arturia > Arturia KeyStep 37” to activate the KeyStep 37 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the KeyStep 37?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the KeyStep 37 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the KeyStep 37 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs sending the correct MIDI CC#s used to control Omnisphere? You can check this by reviewing the Settings on your KeyStep 37 or connecting your KeyStep 37 to Arturia’s MIDI Control Center application and review your User Template there. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC numbers.
