
When using the NI Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 are assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:
- Knob 1 (CC#14) – Global Controls Cutoff
- Knob 2 (CC#15) – Global Controls Resonance
- Knob 3 (CC#16) – Global Controls Filter Envelope Amount
- Knob 4 (CC#17) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
- Knob 5 (CC#18) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
- Knob 6 (CC#19) – Global Controls Ambience Length
- Knob 7 (CC#20) – Global Controls Unison
- Knob 8 (CC#21) – Global Controls Glide
Setup
To control Omnisphere using the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series mk2 Driver (for Windows users only).
- Set up the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
- If you’re using Windows, you’ll need to have the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series mk2 Driver installed in order to connect your S49 mk2 to virtual instruments on your computer.
- If you are on Mac, please skip this section and move on to the next steps in “KOMPLETE KONTROL S49 mk2 SETUP”.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the S49 mk2 is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your S49 mk2 is not on your list of MIDI inputs, aCC#ess Native Instruments’ website to download and install the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series mk2 Driver.
KOMPLETE KONTROL S49 MK2 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of the S49 mk2 while in MIDI Mode.
- You can enable “MIDI Mode” on the Komplete Kontrol S49 by pressing the [SHIFT] button and [MIDI] button.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Native Instruments > NI Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2” to activate the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 hardware profile.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs on the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 sending the correct MIDI CC messages? A simple way to check this is by connecting the Komplete Kontrol S49 mk2 to NI’s Controller Editor application and making sure the MIDI CC assignments for each knob match the CC#s at the top of the page.
