Setup
To control Omnisphere using the KRONOS, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the KRONOS to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
- Set up the KRONOS to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the KRONOS as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the KRONOS Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the KRONOS is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your KRONOS is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
KRONOS SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of External Setup 000 “KLC M1.”
First, let’s make sure External Setup 0 is activated:
- Press the [GLOBAL] button, then using the touch screen go to MIDI > External1 page.
- Next, set the External Mode Setup to the External Setup 000 (a.k.a. “KLC M1”).
Now that External Setup 000 is activated, we need to switch the sliders to External mode.
- Press the [PROG] button to enter Program mode and then press the [EXT] button (located to the left of the sliders).
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the KRONOS is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg KRONOS” to activate the KRONOS hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the KRONOS?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the KRONOS to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel on the KRONOS matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the KRONOS sliders sending the default MIDI CC messages? You can check this by pressing the [GLOBAL] button, navigate to MIDI > External1 page and reviewing the MIDI CC# assignments for each slider (see the list at the top of the page).
