Setup
To control Omnisphere using the M3, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the M3 to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
- Set up the M3 to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the M3 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the M3 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the Korg M3 is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your M3 is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
M3 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of External Setup 1 (named “000. KLC M1”) for external control.
Here’s how to activate External Setup 1 on the M3:
- Press the [PROG] button, then press the [EXTERNAL] button near the knobs.
- Go to “Prog P0: Play” > “Control Surface” page using the touch screen.
- Choose “Setup (Setup Select)” and choose “000: KLC M1.”
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the M3 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg M3” to activate the M3 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the M3?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the M3 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel on the M3 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
Are the M3 sliders sending the default MIDI CC messages? You can check this by navigating back to the “Prog P0: Play” > “Control Surface” page using the touch screen and reviewing the MIDI CC assignments for each slider at the top of the page.
