Setup

To control Omnisphere using the M50, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the M50 to your computer’s MIDI interface.
  2. Set up the M50 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the M50 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the M50 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

M50 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default settings of the External Setup named “000: KLC M1” for external control.
Please go through the following steps to activate External Setup KLC M1 on the M50:

  • First, press the [PROG] button, and then press the [EXTERNAL] button (located near the 4 knobs).
  • Access the “Prog P0: Play – Control Surface” page then choose “Setup (Setup Select).”
  • Choose the first preset named “000: KLC M1.”

HOST CONNECTION

Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the M50 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg M50” to activate the M50 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the M50?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the M50 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel on the M50 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the M50 knobs sending the default MIDI CC messages? You can check this navigating back to the “Prog P0: Play” > “Control Surface” page and reviewing the MIDI CC assignments for each knob.
