OMNISPHERE SETUP

Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button:

From the drop-down menu, select “Arturia>Arturia Matrixbrute” to activate that Hardware Profile.

Profile Notes

While designing this hardware profile, we encountered some limitations with the MatrixBrute—specifically, many of its controls (particularly switches) do not transmit MIDI data. To work around this, we made certain assignments that don’t directly correspond to the MatrixBrute’s native functions, but still provide meaningful control over useful parameters in Omnisphere. Below is a quick overview of how the profile is configured:

  • The Ladder filter knobs in the Matrixbrute are assigned to an Envelope Filter effect unit Omnisphere’s Common Rack.
  • The Audio Mod knobs in the Matrixbrute are assigned to Global Vibrato Rate, Global Vibrato Depth, Global Unison Detune, and Global Unison Amount.
  • The Mixer External knob in the Matrixbrute is assigned to the Global Controls Limiter.
  • The Macro knobs in the Matrixbrute are assigned to the Global Tone Controls (Low/Mid/High) and Part Level.
  • The FX knobs in the Matrixbrute are assigned as follows:
    • Dry/Wet is assigned to Global Ambience Amount.
    • Regeneration is assigned Global Length.
    • Delay Time instantiates Magnetic Echo and controls Time.
    • Tone is assigned to Magnetic Echo’s Tone.
    • Width is assigned to Magnetic Echo’s Spread.
  • The Envelope 3 sliders in the Matrixbrute are assigned to Mod Envelope 4 in Omnisphere, which modulates pitch coarse for all layers.

Unassigned Controls

The following Matrixbrute controls have no effect on Omnisphere:

  • All buttons
  • Mod Matrix
  • Sequencer/ARP

Troubleshooting

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Matrixbrute?
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Matrixbrute matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere part you want to control.
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Matrixbrute to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired Part in Omnisphere.
