When using the M-Audio MidAir 37 to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the MidAir 37 are assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:

  • Knob 2 (CC#93) – Global Controls Resonance
  • Knob 3 (CC#05) – Global Controls Filter Envelope Amount
  • Knob 4 (CC#10) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
  • Knob 5 (CC#71) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
  • Knob 6 (CC#74) – Global Controls Ambience Length
  • Knob 7 (CC#84) – Global Controls Unison
  • Knob 8 (CC#02) – Global Controls Glide

Setup

To control Omnisphere using the MidAir 37, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the MidAir 37 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the MidAir 37 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the MidAir 37 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the MidAir 37 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

MIDAIR 37 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default preset named “01 GM Preset” on the MidAir 37 for external control.

  • Typically, Preset 01 is active when the MidAir 37 is turned on. However, you can make sure Preset 01 “GM Preset” is active by pressing the [MIDI/ Select] button and then using the Octave Up and Down buttons to step through the on board presets until you get Preset 01.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the MidAir 37 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “M-Audio > M-Audio MidAir 37” to activate the MidAir 37 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the MidAir 37?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the MidAir 37 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the MidAir 37 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs on the MidAir 37 sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW.

NOTE: The Enigma editor is no longer supported or provided by M-Audio. If you don’t have access to the Enigma editor, an alternative is to factory reset the MidAir 37. However, doing so will erase all user saved presets on the Axiom. If you’d like to continue with a factory reset, please turn OFF the MidAir, then hold down the [MIDI/ Select] button while turning the MidAir back ON.
