Omnisphere Standalone Pro Tools

OMNISPHERE SETUP

Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button:

From the drop-down menu, select Arturia>Arturia Minifreak” to activate that hardware profile.

Profile Notes

While designing this hardware profile, we encountered that some controls on the MiniFreak do not transmit MIDI data. To work around this, we made certain assignments that don’t directly correspond to the MiniFreak’s native functions, but still provide meaningful control over useful parameters in Omnisphere. Below is a quick overview of how the profile is configured:

  • The Macro Touch Strips on the MiniFreak are assigned to Global Vibrato Rate and Global Vibrato Depth.
  • The FX1 Amount and Time knobs on the MiniFreak are assigned to Global Ambience. The FX1 Intensity knob inserts and controls a Tube Overdrive in the 4th slot of the Aux FX Rack.
  • The FX2 knobs on the MiniFreak are assigned to the Global Tone controls.
  • The FX3 knobs are assigned to a Tube Overdive unit and Global Limiter.

Unassigned Controls

The following Minifreak controls have no effect on Omnisphere:

  • Type
  • FX Type/Sub
  • Tempo/Swing
  • Master
  • Mode
  • Wave/Load
  • Matrix

Troubleshooting

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the Minifreak?
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the Minifreak matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere part you want to control.
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the Minifreak to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired Part in Omnisphere.
