Setup

To control Omnisphere using the MiniLab mk1, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the MiniLab mk1 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the MiniLab mk1 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the MiniLab mk1 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the MiniLab mk1 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

MINILAB MK1 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the factory default settings of a User Preset in the MiniLab mk1.

  • If you haven’t customized any User Presets on the MiniLab mk1, then you can simply load the first User Preset by holding the [SHIFT] button and pressing the drum pad #1.
  • If you have customized one of the eight User Presets on the MiniLab mk1, you can simply load any other User Preset that has not been customized.
  • If you have customized all eight User Presets then you’ll need to use Arturia’s MIDI Control Center to create a new User Preset that is using the factory default settings for all the knobs and sliders, and then send that User Preset to the MiniLab mk1. See the list above for the correct MIDI CC numbers.

)ManualNote)NOTE: To remotely browse Omnisphere’s patches from the MiniLab, simply enable Pad Bank 9-16 on the MiniLab by pressing the [PAD 1 – 8 / 9 – 16] button so that it is lit up in RED. Then you can use Pad 9 (aka the first drum pad) for Patch Browser Down/ Next Patch and Pad 10 (aka the second drum pad) for Patch Browser Up/ Previous Patch.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the MiniLab mk1 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Arturia > Arturia MiniLab mk1” to activate the MiniLab mk1 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the MiniLab mk1?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the MiniLab mk1 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the MiniLab mk1 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Is your User Preset setup so that the knobs and faders send the correct MIDI CC#s used to control Omnisphere? You can check this by reviewing the Settings on your MiniLab mk1 or connecting your MiniLab mk1 to Arturia’s MIDI Control Center application and review your User Preset there. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC numbers.
