Setup
To control Omnisphere using the nanoKEY Studio, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the nanoKEY Studio to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
- Set up the nanoKEY Studio to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the nanoKEY Studio as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the nanoKEY Studio Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the nanoKEY Studio is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your nanoKEY Studio is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
NANOKEY STUDIO SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of a user Scene on the nanoKEY Studio for external control.
- If you haven’t made any customizations to any Scenes on the nanoKEY Studio then you can load any Scene by holding down the [SCENE] button and pressing on any drum pad to load a Scene.
- If you have customized one of the eight Scenes on the nanoKEY Studio, you can simply load a new/ unused Scene that has not been customized.
- If you have customized all eight Scenes then you’ll need to use the Korg KONTROL Editor to reset a Scene back for factory default settings and send the edited Scene to the nanoKEY Studio.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the nanoKEY Studio is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg nanoKEY Studio” to activate the nanoKEY Studio hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the nanoKEY Studio?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the nanoKEY Studio to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the nanoKEY Studio matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs on the nanoKEY Studio sending the correct MIDI CC#s to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
