Setup
To control Omnisphere using the nanoKONTROL, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the nanoKONTROL to your computer via USB.
- Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
- Set up the nanoKONTROL to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the nanoKONTROL as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the nanoKONTROL Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
USB DRIVER
Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the nanoKONTROL is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your nanoKONTROL is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
NANOKONTROL SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of a user Scene on the nanoKONTROL for external control.
- If you haven’t made any customizations to any Scenes on the nanoKONTROL then you can skip this section and move on to the steps under “HOST CONNECTION.”
- If you have customized one of the four Scenes on the nanoKONTROL, you can simply press the [SCENE] button until the any unused Scene is activated.
- If you have customized all four Scenes then you’ll need to use the Korg KONTROL Editor to reset a Scene back for factory default settings, send the edited Scene to the nanoKONTROL and activate the new Scene from the nanoKONTROL.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the nanoKONTROL is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg nanoKONTROL” to activate the nanoKONTROL hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the nanoKONTROL?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the nanoKONTROL to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the nanoKONTROL matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs and sliders on the nanoKONTROL sending the correct MIDI CC#s to control Omnisphere? A quick way to check is by connecting your nanoKONTROL2 to the Korg KONTROL Editor application. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC numbers.
NOTE: As a last ditch effort, you can restore the nanoKONTROL back to factory default settings, however doing so will erase all user-made Scenes. If you’d like to continue with the reset, first turn OFF the nanoKONTROL, then turn it back ON while holding down the [REC] + [STOP] + [SCENE] buttons.
