Setup
To control Omnisphere using the nanoKONTROL2, you’ll need to do the following:
- Set up the nanoKONTROL2 to control Omnisphere.
- Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
- Enable the nanoKONTROL2 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the nanoKONTROL2 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
NANOKONTROL2 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of “CC Mode” on the nanoKONTROL2 for external control.
- You can activate CC Mode by holding down [SET MARKER] and [CYCLE] buttons while connecting the nanoKONTROL2 to your computer using the USB cable. * If your nanoKONTROL2 is already plugged in, please unplug it and then activate CC Mode.
USB DRIVER
Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.
- You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the nanoKONTROL2 is on your list of MIDI inputs.
- If your nanoKONTROL2 is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
HOST CONNECTION
Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the nanoKONTROL2 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg nanoKONTROL2” to activate the nanoKONTROL2 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the nanoKONTROL2?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the nanoKONTROL2 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the nanoKONTROL2 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs on the nanoKONTROL2 using the correct MIDI CC numbers to control Omnisphere’s parameters? A quick way to check is by connecting your nanoKONTROL2 to the Korg KONTROL Editor application. See the list at top of the page for the correct MIDI CC numbers.
