When using the M-Audio O2 to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the O2 are assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:

  • Knob 1 (CC#73) – Global Controls Cutoff
  • Knob 2 (CC#72) – Global Controls Resonance
  • Knob 3 (CC#74) – Global Controls Filter Envelope Amount
  • Knob 4 (CC#71) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
  • Knob 5 (CC#05) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
  • Knob 6 (CC#84) – Global Controls Ambience Length
  • Knob 7 (CC#93) – Global Controls Unison
  • Knob 8 (CC#10) – Global Controls Glide
  • Master Slider (cc07) – Part Level

Setup

To control Omnisphere using the O2, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the O2 to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the O2 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the O2 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the O2 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

O2 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default preset named “01 GM Preset” on the O2 for external control.

  • This Preset is typically already active when the O2 is turned on. You can confirm that the “GM Preset” is loaded if “P1” is displayed in the top left corner of the LCD screen. If another Preset is loaded, press the Preset [+] or [-] buttons until “P1” is displayed on the LCD screen.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the O2 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “M-Audio > M-Audio O2” to activate the O2 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the O2?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the O2 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the O2 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs on the O2 sending the correct MIDI CC messages to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check this is by using MIDI Monitor by Snoize or recording knob movement in your DAW.

NOTE: The Enigma editor is no longer supported or provided by M-Audio. If you don’t have access to the Enigma editor, an alternative is to factory reset the O2. However, doing so will erase all user saved presets on the Axiom. If you’d like to continue with a factory reset, please turn OFF the O2, then press the Preset [+] and [-] buttons at the same time while turning the O2 back ON.
