When using the Kurzweil PC1X to control Omnisphere, the sliders on the PC1X will be assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:

  • Knob 1 (CC#91) – Global Controls Cutoff
  • Knob 2 (CC#93) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
  • Knob 3 (CC#06) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
  • Knob 4 (CC#13) – Global Controls Glide

Setup

To control Omnisphere using the PC1X, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the PC1X to your computer’s MIDI interface.
  2. Set up the PC1X to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the PC1X as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the PC1X Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

PC1X SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default settings of Control Setup #126 named “Internal Voices” for external control.

  • To load “Setup 126,” press the [SETUP] button, then scroll through the list using the Alpha Wheel to load Setup 126 in Bank 0.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the PC1X is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Kurzweil > Kurzweil PC1X” to activate the PC1X hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the PC1X?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the PC1X to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of Zone 1 on the PC1X matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs on the PC1X sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? A quick way to check is to press the [MAIN] button, hold [GLOBAL] and move one knob at a time. The display will show what the “Ctrl Num” (a.k.a. MIDI CC#) is assigned to that knob. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
