When using the Kurzweil PC2 to control Omnisphere, the sliders on the PC2 will be assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:

  • Slider 1 (CC#93) – Global Controls Cutoff
  • Slider 2 (CC#91) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
  • Slider 3 (CC#06) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
  • Slider 4 (CC#13) – Global Controls Glide

Setup

To control Omnisphere using the PC2, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the PC2 to your computer’s MIDI interface.
  2. Set up the PC2 to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the PC2 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the PC2 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

PC2 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default settings of Control Setup #126 named “Internal Voices” for external control.

  • To load “Setup 126,” press the [MIDI Setups] button, then type 126 using the number pad, and press the [Enter] button.
  • Next, make sure the PC2 is sending MIDI out by pressing the MIDI Transmit button, press the [ >> ] button and set “Destination” to “MIDI.”

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the PC2 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Kurzweil > Kurzweil PC2” to activate the PC2 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the PC2?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the PC2 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of Zone 1 on the PC2 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the sliders on the PC2 sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? A simple way to check is to press and hold the [CONTROLLERS] button then move each slider one at a time. The display for each slider will read which “Ctrl Num” (a.k.a. MIDI CC#) that the slider is assigned to. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
