When using the Kurzweil PC88 to control Omnisphere, the knobs on the PC88 will be assigned to the following Omnisphere parameters:
- Knob 1 (CC#91) – Global Controls Cutoff
- Knob 2 (CC#93) – Global Controls Ambience Amount
- Knob 3 (CC#04) – Global Controls Vibrato Depth
- Knob 4 (CC#72) – Global Controls Glide
Setup
To control Omnisphere using the PC88, you’ll need to do the following:
- Connect the PC88 to your computer’s MIDI interface.
- Set up the PC88 to control Omnisphere.
- Enable the PC88 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
- Activate the PC88 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.
PC88 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of “Internal Voices” mode for external control.
- You can activate Internal Voices mode by pressing the [INTERNAL VOICES] button, then load an empty Program.
- Make sure the PC88 is sending MIDI out by pressing the [MIDI Transmit] button and set the “Dest” (aka Destination) parameter to “MIDI.”
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the PC88 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Kurzweil > Kurzweil PC88” to activate the PC88 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the PC88?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the PC88 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of Zone 1 on the PC88 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the knobs on the PC88 sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? A quick way to check is to hold the [CONTROLLERS] button and move one knob at a time. The display will show what the “Ctrl Num” (a.k.a. MIDI CC#) is assigned to that knob.
See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
