Setup

To control Omnisphere using the SMC-Mixer, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the SMC-Mixer to your computer via USB.
  2. Set up the SMC-Mixer to control Omnisphere.
  3. Enable the SMC-Mixer as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  4. Activate the SMC-Mixer Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

SMC-MIXER SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of the SMC-Mixer while in “CC# Mode” for external.

  • You can quickly activate “CC# Mode” by holding down the [SHIFT] button and the [ > ] button (found in the bottom right corner of the SMC-Mixer). CC# Mode is active while the [ > ] button is illuminated.

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the SMC-Mixer is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “M-Vave > M-Vave SMC-Mixer” to activate the SMC-Mixer hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the SMC-Mixer?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the SMC-Mixer to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the SMC-Mixer matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
  • Are the knobs and sliders on the SMC-Mixer sending the correct MIDI CC# messages to control Omnisphere? Please see the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC# numbers. If you need to reassign any MIDI CC# numbers for the knobs and sliders you can do so by using M-Vave’s MidiSuite editor application.
