- Connect the SP5-8 to your computer’s MIDI interface.
- Set up the SP5-8 to control Omnisphere.

SP5-8 SETUP
Omnisphere relies on the default settings of Control Setup #126 named “Internal Voices” for external control.
- To activate Setup 126, please press the [Setup] button, press the [KeyPad] Category button and then type in 126 on the numerical buttons, then press the [Enter] button.
- Make sure the SP5-8 is sending MIDI out by pressing the [Setup Edit] button and the “Dest” (Destination) parameter is set to “MIDI.”
- Once the MIDI output has been set, exit Setup Edit mode and enter Program mode by pressing the [Program] button.
HOST CONNECTION
- Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the SP5-8 is enabled as a MIDI input device.
OMNISPHERE SETUP
- Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Kurzweil > Kurzweil SP5-8” to activate the SP5-8 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not working? Here are some things to try:
- Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the SP5-8?
- Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the SP5-8 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
- If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of Zone 1 on the SP5-8 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control.
- Are the sliders on the SP5-8 sending the correct MIDI CC messages used to control Omnisphere? A quick way to check is to press the [Setup Edit] button, hold [Select] and move one slider at a time. The display will show what the “Ctrl Num” (a.k.a. MIDI CC#) is assigned to that slider. See the list at the top of the page for the correct MIDI CC#s.
