Setup

To control Omnisphere using the Taktile 49, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Connect the Taktile 49 to your computer via USB.
  2. Download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.
  3. Set up the Taktile 49 to control Omnisphere.
  4. Enable the Taktile 49 as a MIDI input device in the host software you’re using (DAW, Standalone, etc.).
  5. Activate the Taktile 49 Hardware Profile in Omnisphere 3 or later.

USB DRIVER

Korg devices require a USB-MIDI Driver when connecting to any Windows operating systems or to Mac OS 10.10 through 10.14.

  • You can check to see if the necessary USB driver has already been installed by opening up the Omnisphere Standalone (or your preferred DAW) and verify the Taktile 49 is on your list of MIDI inputs.
  • If your Taktile 49 is not on your list of MIDI inputs, access the Korg website to download and install the Korg USB-MIDI Driver.

TAKTILE 49 SETUP

Omnisphere relies on the default settings of “Basic MIDI” scene on the taktile 49 for external control.

  • If you haven’t made any customizations for the knobs in “Basic MIDI” scene then please activate the “Basic MIDI” scene on the taktile 49 by pressing the [ < ] and [ > ] page buttons and use the VALUE slider to scroll through the various scenes until you see “Basic MIDI” displayed.
  • If you have already customized the knobs in the “Basic MIDI” scene, please use the Korg KONTROL Editor application to return the knobs to their default settings (listed at the top of the page).

HOST CONNECTION

  • Open your host (DAW, Standalone, etc.) and make sure the Taktile 49 is enabled as a MIDI input device.

OMNISPHERE SETUP

  • Open Omnisphere and from the header, select the HW menu button.
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Korg > Korg taktile 49” to activate the taktile 49 hardware profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not working? Here are some things to try:

  • Is your DAW receiving MIDI from the taktile 49?
  • Make sure your DAW is configured to correctly route the MIDI output of the taktile 25 to the MIDI channel assigned to the desired part in Omnisphere.
  • If you are using the Omnisphere standalone host, make sure the MIDI output channel of the taktile 25 matches the MIDI channel of the Omnisphere Part you want to control. See the list at the top of the page.
