The Clavia Nord Wave was released in the late 2000s and one of its main features (compared to the Nord Lead series) is the addition of sample playback. This means that when using it to control Omnisphere, in addition to accessing almost 120 of Omnisphere’s wavetables, you can also access Omnisphere’s Soundsources. This opens the door for an entirely different range of sounds from classic synth tones to psychoacoustic, filmic textures. It’s not cheap on the used market, but if you’re looking for a good Nord controller that can travel to a lot of places sonically, this is a great choice.

Clavia Nord Wave Strengths:

  • Wavetables + Soundsources
  • Effects Control
  • Good Build Quality
