The Sequential OB-6 is a smooth-sounding analog polysynth and it’s an excellent controller for Omnisphere. From its panel, you have immediate access to a lot of Omnisphere’s parameters, you can mix the four Layers of a Patch, and it has a really nice Dual FX section that allows you to control Omnisphere’s FX remotely. A very special feature is its State Variable Filter, which allows you to morph between Lowpass, Notch, and Highpass modes. We developed a brand new State Variable Filter in Omnisphere to use specifically with this profile — one example of how we are modifying Omnisphere to work with the hardware.

This panel layout is intuitive and modulations are easy to set up. Using this synth to control Omnisphere is great for both live and the studio. The 4-octave Keyboard has excellent aftertouch and velocity response, and the desktop module is even better in some ways, because the panel labels are below the controls, making them easier to read. If you like the Oberheim vibe, this is a great choice!
