MIDI Input

In Slice Menu MIDI mode, Chaos pattern parameters that can be captured in the MIDI file are disabled on MIDI input to enable reliable playback of a captured MIDI file. However, other Chaos parameters can affect incoming MIDI notes from a sequencer track or live-playing from a MIDI keyboard. These parameters include: Reverse, Pitch, Dynamics, and Buzz sections.

*The Chaos Designer was developed for use with Groove Elements but it also works on Sound Menus with these parameters. The results can be quite interesting!

In Groove Menu MIDI Mode, Chaos can be used very effectively, especially for introducing variation to an improvised live performance. All Chaos parameters are active in Groove Menu mode. However, none of the Chaos parameters can be captured because there are too many potential MIDI events to capture in a MIDI File.You can however, freeze, bounce, or render your Groove Menu mode performance as an audio file in your host to preserve and keep the variations. (or simply make a recording of it like you would any other live performance).

*Try rendering a long Chaos track in Groove Menu mode to get a track with lots of variety that you can edit later in your audio editing program, very much like the process of turning an endlessly improvising musician (who never repeats himself) into a more organized performance.
